PacPrint 09 filling fast

PacPrint 09 is set to be one of the largest and most comprehensive graphic arts trade exhibitions ever held in Australasia. More than 80 per cent of available floor space at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre has already been allocated to exhibitors representing virtually every facet of the printing, graphic arts and communications industry.

As well as major names like Agfa, Heidelberg, Kodak, Currie Group, CPI Group, Dainippon Screen, Fuji-Xerox, Fujifilm and MAN Ferrostaal, a host of smaller companies will also be displaying and demonstrating a range of products from prepress systems and printing equipment, to papers and substrates, management information systems and software programs, copiers and ink-jet technology, finishing systems, mailing and paper handling systems, ink and chemistry and even financial and business services.

“We are delighted with the unprecedented response from suppliers across the entire graphic arts industry to our invitation to become involved at PacPrint 09,” says Alastair Hadley, Chairman of the PacPrint Board, “and look forward to welcoming even more exhibitors in the coming weeks as we fill the remaining 20 per cent of available space.”

Hadley says excitement is building for PacPrint, particularly following the recent, highly successful drupa exhibition in Dusseldorf which, he says, confirmed the ongoing strength of the industry.

“The trends and technology on display at drupa indicated a healthy and exciting future for the graphic arts, giving many visitors from this part of the world a renewed sense of anticipation about PacPrint,” Hadley says.

As well as being a ‘must see’ destination for all serious members of the graphic arts in this region, supply companies also consider it virtually compulsory, say exhibitors like Gary Muratore, Agfa Graphics’ Business Manager, Marcom and National Dealers.

“PacPrint is perfectly timed for exhibitors to bring the excitement of drupa onto home soil with solid commercial releases which confirm the trends set at that international forum,” he explains. ”For Agfa, that will mean showing new products like our drupa release ink-jet technology and environmentally friendly chemical-free offset plates, as fully-fledged, commercial releases.”

Another key benefit of PacPrint, says Hadley, is its relatively small footprint, which provides a more manageable, personal and specific forum for business owners to explore how new technology and trends will impact on their businesses, discuss their options in detail with local sales and service staff, and bring key staff members along to see the technology in their specific areas of expertise.

“As well as the exhibition, which promises to be the largest and most diverse graphic arts show ever staged in this country, there will be a range of other attractions for graphic arts businesses, print buyers and designers, including a range of forums, displays, special events and new hospitality options,” he says. “Given these outstanding attractions, I’d urge anyone with an interest in the graphic arts to mark 26-30 May 2009 in their diaries now.”
